Thomas A. Utzinger is a lawyer, consultant, and writer with a background in environmental law, corporate governance, and sustainability. He has worked in Washington D.C. and the New York metropolitan area, and currently lives in New Jersey.

Thomas began his career at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, developed a concentration in environmental and energy law as an associate at law firms including Riker Danzig LLP and Crowell & Moring LLP, and later served as a corporate in-house environmental counsel for one of New Jersey’s premier companies — PSEG. Thomas now uses his broad experience to consult on energy industry regulatory and litigation matters for a handful of corporate clients. He is also a prolific writer, having authored and co-authored more than 50 articles and other works for the American Bar Association, Thomson Reuters, LexisNexis, and ELR News and Analysis.

Thomas earned a B.A. in History from Cornell University, a J.D. from Boston University School of Law, and an LL.M. in Environmental Law from The George Washington University Law School. He is admitted to practice law in Washington D.C., New York, and New Jersey.

Outside of work, Thomas enjoys golf and travel. He is also a pilot with flight time in Cessna, Cirrus, Piper, and Diamond aircraft.
